Peter Berg to direct new Dune film
January 1st, 2008 | by sachi |Peter Berg has confirmed he will be helming a remake of Dune in an interview with MTV News. Dune, the award winning science fiction novel by Frank Herbert, was first adapted for the silver screen by David Lynch in 1984, and later made into a TV miniseries by the SciFi Channel in 2000. Director Peter Berg (The Kingdom, Friday Night Lights) announced in the December 21st interview that plans for him to direct the remake were “a done deal” and that “if it weren’t for the writer’s strike, we’d be in it right now.”

Frank’s grandson at the official Dune books forum is cautioning that the deal is still not yet done (and Hollywood has a way of “sure” things falling apart). But still, exciting times!

It’s officially a done deal, Byron now says it’s true.
Now I can’t wait for more info to come out soon though.
